Privacy Policy

Short version: We store your account email and resume content so the product works. We don't sell your data, don't run ads, and don't train AI models on your resume. Delete your account anytime and everything goes with it.
1. Who we are
JobTune (tryjobtune.com) is a Chrome browser extension and web service that helps you tailor your resume to specific job descriptions using AI. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what choices you have.

2. Data we collect
Account data
When you sign in with Google we receive:
- Email address
- First name (from your Google profile)
- A unique user identifier issued by Supabase Auth
We do not request access to your Gmail, contacts, calendar, or any other Google data.
Resume content
When you upload a resume to the extension, the file (PDF or DOCX) and the extracted text are sent to our servers and to Anthropic (our AI processing provider) for processing. We keep the most recent tailored version in your account so you can re-download it. Older versions are deleted automatically.
Job descriptions you paste or extract
When you tailor a resume, the job description text is sent to Anthropic alongside your resume. We do not store job descriptions long-term — they're discarded after the tailor completes.
Usage data
For each tailor, we record:
- The number of credits used
- ATS scores before and after
- Whether the tailor succeeded or failed
- Timestamp
This data is used to operate your account (credit tracking) and to improve the product (aggregate analytics, never individual review).
Payment data
If you subscribe to Pro, payments are processed by Stripe. We never see, store, or have access to your credit card or banking information. Stripe sends us a customer ID and subscription status; that's it. Stripe's privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.
Email engagement
We send transactional emails (welcome, purchase confirmation, payment failed) via Resend. Resend records open and click events to help us measure deliverability. If you opt into marketing emails, that engagement is also recorded. You can opt out of marketing emails anytime via the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
3. How we use your data
We use your data only for the following purposes:
- Provide the service — process your resume, run AI tailoring, deliver results
- Operate your account — credit tracking, subscription management, billing
- Send transactional emails — confirmations, alerts, account notifications
- Improve the product — aggregate analytics on what features people use, what fails, where users get stuck. We do not review individual resumes manually.
- Send marketing emails — only if you opt in; you can unsubscribe anytime
We do not sell your data to anyone. We do not use your resume content to train any AI model. We do not use your data for advertising.
4. Third parties we share data with
To run JobTune, we share specific data with these vendors:
- Anthropic — your resume content + job description, used to generate the tailored version. Anthropic's policy: anthropic.com/privacy. Per Anthropic's enterprise terms, your inputs are not used to train their models.
- Supabase — account authentication and database hosting. Privacy: supabase.com/privacy.
- Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions. Privacy: stripe.com/privacy.
- Resend — sending transactional and marketing emails. Privacy: resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.
- Cloudflare — DNS, email routing, edge caching. Privacy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
These are subprocessors required to deliver the service. We do not share your data with anyone else. We will never sell your data to brokers, advertisers, or recruiters.
5. Data retention
While your account is active, we retain:
- Account profile (email, name) — indefinitely
- Resume content — only the most recent version per account
- Tailor history (scores, timestamps) — 12 months, then aggregated and deleted
- Email send logs — 90 days, then deleted
When you delete your account, all of the above is permanently deleted within 30 days. Backups containing this data are purged on a rolling 30-day cycle.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the data we have about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Opt out of marketing emails (any time, via the unsubscribe link)
- Object to certain types of processing
To exercise any of these rights, email support@tryjobtune.com. We respond to all requests within 30 days.
7. Children's privacy
JobTune is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we discover that we have, we will delete it promptly.
8. International users
JobTune's servers are located in the United States. By using the service, you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in the U.S. We comply with applicable data protection laws including GDPR (EU), CCPA (California), and PIPEDA (Canada).
9. Security
We use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS for all traffic, encryption at rest for databases). Access to user data is limited to the engineers who need it to operate the service. We have never had a data breach; if one occurs, we will notify affected users within 72 hours.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will email all active users at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page is always current.
